I had good luck with a ghost ribbon eel, had him for almost a year. It ate anything I put in the water, and was really fun to watch. I think it got stuck in a piece of rock, because when I found it dead, I had to move some rockwork to get it out.

That sucks that it died like that. Did you have trouble getting it to eat at first too or was it just off the bat?

I got mine after it had been at the LFS for a few months, and they had gotten it to eat allready. I never would have gotten it until I saw it eat some Rods food that they added.

This is quite frustrating. He's very active and seems interested in food that I offer him but he won't bite anything. I've tried using my hand, bent bamboo skewers, tongs, and a metal stick. He was the most interested when I was using the bamboo but still no bite. He would come almost all the way out of his pipe to see what it was but then go back. It's only been 4 days so far so idk. Also, he seems interested in a guppy that I put in there but the guppy seemed too fast for him to catch.

Also my Solon wrasse apparently like guppies as well. One that I put in there died fairly quickly and when I reached in to pull it out I had to jerk my hand back because the wrasse hit the guppy like a bass hitting a fishing lure and swallowed it whole haha I didn't realize that they ate like that.

I used it to feed a small angler.

Ok well this is kinda an update but he still hasn't eaten anything that I have seen and still checks everything out that I offer him but no joy yet. But as of last night he has forgone his PVC pipe and has decided that he likes the rock work better

I was looking at him and I'm wondering something. He has a second buldge behind his gills kinda looks like when a snake eats but idk what he coulda eaten cause my fish are all too big for him and my CBS is still there so I'm puzzled. If he has eaten something especially if its large how often do they eat? Could this be why he checks out food but doesn't eat it? I was looking at pics of ribbon eels online and they don't have this buldge. I'll try and get a pic up tomorrow if possible.
