I use this from Lowe's. It is super glue gel, it isn't as messy as the plain glue. If you are gluing the frag to a large rock I would put the glue on the frag then place it on the rock and hold it in place for 30 seconds. Make sure all the water pumps are off when you are doing this.

Why did you decide to go without sand? Just feel like it offers a big part of the filtration as well as helps invertebretes move along

It allows for more water flow without creating a sand storm and it doesn't trap detritus and poisonous gases that a sandbed would. The tank is a lot cleaner without the sandbed, it is also easier to maintain low nutrients because the waste is kept suspended by the powerheads and filters into the protein skimmer.

but there are all sorts of micro-organisms in your sandbed that keep removing detritus and allowing fresh water to move between the sand grains. I've always just argued it is an important factor to the nitrogen cycle, also with the right sand sifting crew, those deadly bubbles should really be a non issue? This is all just hypothetical I have not personally put any of this to test because I just haven't been doing salt water that long

When I tore down my tank and saw how much crap came out of the sandbed and live rock I was disgusted and told myself I would never use a sandbed again for an SPS reef. My buddy has one of the nicest tanks I've ever seen and he uses ZEOvit and barebottom and has no algae growth anywhere and his colors are amazing.

My reefer dealer I mean LFS tells me the same thing but I went with .5-1 live sand, i guess i'm stubborn and this is my first tank.

i'm on the way to lowes to see if there are any options that are cost effective to mount some light in the back of my biocube so i can throw some macro algae in there. i've heard people having success with basic office lamps to grow cheato or halmieda in their fuge. the biocube has a clear opening in the back wall for a light to be stuck against it so it leaves me with several options. gonna see if there is any LED strips or something small and clean to stick to the back plastic on the tank. my halmieda algae (bad spelling) is growing like crazy and i have to prune it back twice a week which is too much!

i should prob consider a GFO reactor one of these days (after slim-skim and LED kit are completed)
