    hello
55 gal display and 30 gal ref...2 years old.
    2 clowns, 1 damsel
Dose with lime water on constant drip.
    65w 10k
    65 actinic
    500w MH, 250 each 14k
    power compacts run from 11-11
and MH for 3 hours (power cost so much/and heat)

My problem is that certain corals don't do well in my tank, ricordea, Xenia

I have torch coral, yellow polyps, green/blue mushrooms, kenia tree, two types of star polys(purple mat with green polyps, with white centers) Candy coral, colt coral, green and orange polyps( or zos I don't really know). All these corals are doing really well.

The ricordea has been in the tank for 1.5 years, at one point it started to split, but now the last 6 months its mouths have grown back together, and the lips are sticking out. I havnt used phytoplankton in a year.

All my rock I made, and added small peices of live rock over time. I have had problems skimmer last couple months cutting off, but its never off more than 8 hours. I know I need a water change right now, but it hasn't seemed to help this problem in the past.

    Ask questions, any ideas

Phosphate and nitrate levels would be a big help.

Calcium seems high to me. I am to keep mine at around 480. Too high and it can throw other levels such as Alk and Mg out of balance. This could be your problem, not sure though. If you could test for these and the other levels mentioned, that would help us a lot.

not a good day, Clark clown fish died last night, I think it may have todo with not enough food, I've been bizzy last couple months, only feeding once a week.

but I did some test and here...
    Calcium 300-340
KH 3 on one test, different test showed 5-6
    phosphate 0
    nitrate 0
ph around 8-8.4 (the test I have isn't that accurate)

If your cal and alk are correct, your tank chemistry is going way out of synergy, or balance. The alk should be at least 8 dkh and although cal is at the low end of the range, I suspect your mag is too low also. I would say that is why things are going badly for the coral.

after I did the test I added

dose .3 lb of epson salt, and will dose another .3 lbs tonight
add 2 teaspoons of baking soda.

4 hours later I tested again and found
    Cal 380
    kh 7
    phosphate 0
    nitrate 0
1.021 sg (sold a couple big rocks and frags that I sent water with)

after researching I found the difference in 50% water changes compared to %10 water changes, I don't change often enough and about 20% every 3 months. A few 50% water changes will mag levels back.

also today when I picked up the test kits I got a maxi* clam, hes blue. I also got 3 other small frags. One purple apoxpora* type. Try to get pics going.

another note, sea slugs back hole is bigger, not his chitter but other one. I think hes hungry, hes suppose to be going to a friends tank with over grown clepra*(with lil green grapes)
