my new tiger pistol shrimp stole my 3/4" neon orange ricordea that was attached to a small rock. he stuck it somewhere and Im not able to find it. will it cause problems when it eventually dies? I would have to take everything out and and probly sift sand to find it. the shrimp and the yellow watchman are being jerks to everyone btw.

    IMHO

No , I have had many shrooms dissapear behind the rock work, in fact some of them survive there, they lose all colouration and I have seen almost transparent shrooms when taking a tank down, must have been there for months

how long have you had the ricordia for? They are known to melt if they are not in captivity for a while.

Agreed - nothing to worry about !!!

Adds to the mystery of having a tank!! I have had mushrooms that dissapeared for several months, only to come back and do fine. Some, undoubtedly, melted away and to my knowledge they do not release toxins into the water like some of the other soft corals.

I have a green hairy mushroom that has been MIA for about 4 days now. It was attached to a piece of rubble rock which must have fallen from it's place during the night and now, poof it's gone.

The good thing is I have an urchin that usually finds all my missing frags and "fetches" them for me in my rockwork. It takes the urchin about a week to find them, but I usually see it carrying around anything that is literally not glued down.

IMO it should not hurt anything in your tank if it does "melt" away, they are pretty hardy though and i'm sure it will turn up sometime in the future.
