ricordia splitting??

how do ricordia split, or do they? i have a blue ric with green mouth about 3-1/2 inches around, and now, it looks as if it is splitting and green is forming in the center of the new half, is this how they spread? if so, i have 2 huge pieces of blue rics and im very happy!! also, is it normal for plate corals to balloon up to about 6 times the size of the hard shell body underneath? every morning lately, it is about 4 inches around and an inch or more tall, but the skeleton is only maybe 3/4 of an inch around???

 

bump....no one on this site knows how they split? im a little dissapointed guys, you are my support group, if i dont have that then what do i have?

 

I want to say yes, but not sure. I think they start off with only one mouth. As they grow, they form another mouth. After that is when they split. Im not an expert, but I think thats the way it happens. Luna

 

That's what I think too. A couple of mine started with one mouth, now have 2.. And have been growing rapidly...

 

that is how fla rics split yumas tend to leave a little tissue like discosoma mushrooms. sometimes it takes along time for the fla's to split after they grow two mouths thpough.

 

ok, cool, its definatly growing another mouth and is huge today, almost 5 inches around!!!!
