    Hey all,

I'm getting ready to setup my 50 gallon reef and get it going. I need some advice. My stand was purchased from my LFS and its high quality however when my SeaClear tank sits on top of it, if I push down on opposite corners there is a very MINIMAL rocking movement. I mean I cannot even see the gap. It's that minimal.

Just to play it safe I was considering picking this up and cutting to fit the base of the tank between the stand and tank to account for any inconsistancies. What do you all think?

Is there anything else you would recommend?

    Thank you!

We use styrofoam insulation just like in the link. The thickness depends on the tank size. I'd use at least 1/2", and 3/4" for larger setups.

for a 50 gallon 1/2"??? That seems like a fairly massive block of styrofoam. I was thinking 1/4" or 3/8" at most

I had that same situation with my 40B and used another brand of very similar product. Worked great.
