So ive wanted to add a sump to my system to hide my filtration and so that I can have a refugium. I have my 40 gallon display tank. Do you think a Rio 3100 pump is a good size? Someone i know is selling it for $35 and im wondering if 900gph is going to be too much flow.

    What do you all think?

That's exactly what I had on my 40g breeder, added a ball valve on the return side and adjusted from there, worked perfect for me!

alright. I will likely be doing this pump with one of the PVC DIY style overflow systems since i do not want to purchase an overflow box, and it seems that these PVC systems are able to restart the siphon without priming it in the event of a power loss and gain.
