Why are you rinsing the sand out ? no need to really just put it in and save all those coralline feeding minerals . Unless you are using a cheap silicate sand ? But if its a good quality agronite then I'd not ever rinse it .

What would you consider special grade reef sand aragonite from caribsea?

You will never completely clean. Rinsing is to remove debris like tree brunches or whatnots. Not to make brown sand white.

I'm not sure I follow the question . If it is to me what would consider a quality sand from caribsea well since they sell a true calcium based aragonite then I'd would never rinse any of them , I never even rinsed out the old cheap south down stuff or crushed coral either for that matter , As all that powder and dust that is being rinsed out is just mixed with water and glycerin and sold as purple up and or coralline starter stuff . I would never use a silicate sand and I would never rinse a calcium based sand .

It is always recommended to rinse dry argonite, etc. I rinsed mine until it was as clear as I was willing to go (just a slight milky but clear enough to see through). It will cloud the water but with a fervent filtering it clears.

This is where I get all my sand from, I dont bother rinsing it anymore, it clouds the water either way so I just add it and let it settle. never takes more than 24 hours to run crystal clear again, at least not in my tank.

I never rinse my sand if its to be used in a functioning deep sand bed, its the fines that support the most colonizing bacteria. If its for asthetics then rinsing is fine but the water will never rinse clear. All you really want to do is get the sticks and debris that float out, the rest will settle.
