Hey guys, I had a thread up about this nem before, But I want more opinions. I was given this nem from the university, and was told at first it wast a green bubble tip, Then I was told later its actually a ritteri nem. I showed pictures to the guy at my LFS he said it looked like a long tentacle. I really just want to be sure before I keep it in my tank, its doing really great right now and my clown fish love it, but I would feel more comfortable with a rose nem or bubble tip, And I have this feeling its a ritteri nem. What are your thoughts?

the way its base comes up and around the tentacles like in the first pic makes me think its a ritteri, however the funny curly cue tentacles also make me think its a bubble tip. i would pray its not a ritteri as they are very very picky. make bta's seem as hardly as damsels.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Can you please get a view from up top and I agree a Ritteri would be a challenge unless you have intense MH lighting or equiv and pristine water conditions.

if you keep it alive, and its a ritteri thats fantastic. it already look like its doing great so i would keep it as long as it keep looking like that. if it starts to deteriorate i would ditch it.

i have only kept a ritteri successfully twice out of about 5 tries.

I have had it since last thursday and it is doing wonderful, It opens up nice and big, my clown fish are hosting in it and never leave it alone. Its already attached on to a rock, only moved once to the rock next to it, I rearranged my tank and move it so it would have enough space.. I would like to keep it but I feel like it might be a little to big for my tank and I don't want to run the risk of it dying and crashing my tank.

how large is your tank? if very healthy and well extablished these things can grow to a massive 3 feet in diameter.

however it takes them a while to get this large. also i have heard of people trimming their anemones when they get too large. they are very resiliant if well extablished.

Thats why I wasn't planning on keeping it if it was a ritteri! I researched them and decided it probably wasn't the best anemone for me. I Have a 40gB I just think I could find a better nem thats more suited for my tank haha, although this anemone is beautiful! Here is a picture of it I just took, its not fully open.

i dont know, in that last pic its looking alot more like a gbta, which would probably be a extremely suitable nem for your tank. i would wait for a ore expert opinion as i do not know much when it comes to these look alike nems.
