hi guys thought i would qucikly add this on this page in case anyone had one of these tanks and struggled like i did for a while. basically i started keeping marines around jan 08. i bought one of these new river reef aquariums when they where first released.
basically after buying it complete from my lfs with the skimmer, i got home only to find that the nano skimmer v2 120 didnot work. when you closed the hood it would push the skimmer under water!!! so although being brand new(£230) i modified the hood. basically i cut out a section in the hood so that the collection cup would sit inside!!!!! after sealing it up etc it worked fine until recently when i sold it on e bay!!!!!!heres some pics of the work and when i had it up and running. i hope this little thread may help someone who has one of these tanks (90l) and they can learn from it. must also add that there where only two wires in the way that i just moved to the side. hope you like the thread. thanks

what did you muse to cut the plastic? i have the same but in silver and i bought a v2 skimmer and had the same problem. only thing is i remove some of the water at night when the lights go off and put the skimmer at the front of the glass so the cup is poking through the flap

    hi there,
i actually took the the plastic casing away from the the hood itself before cutting anything(think it was around 8-10 self tapping screws?) so that i could see what wiring was there to deal with. i then used my dremel fitted with a cutter wheel to do the job. as you may see from the pic,i located/marked the cut out before doing the job. the actual cut out is located in the section where the heater sits(its the middle/biggest section and theres quite a bit of room in there). i cut it as far right as i could,(nearest the pumps),mainly due to the fact that there is the cable tidy hooks located directly behind it and it was the only free area... i opened up the hole as i cut it too small with a harsh flat file, which worked pucker!!! hope this helps you out, any other queries give me a shout. thanks
