I can't speak to the skimmer body, but the pump is really nice. I have a DC5000 on my return and it has been fantastic. I also have a Reef Octopus DC skimmer, and it too has been great (same pump as Waveline DC3000).

My biggest concern is RLSS customer service. I'm not sure how it is in the US, but in Canada there have been many hobbyists that have struggled with them. My LFS stopped distributing RLSS for the same reason. Hopefully it is better in the US, but at this point I wouldn't consider an RLSS skimmer when there are other great DC skimmers available with reliable customer service.

    Hi Jake,

Yeah that is what i've heard about their customer service, but one of the distributors out here in the U.S. says if you need anything just to ask them and they can get it.

I have seen many skimmers using these RLSS style DC pumps and have yet to be impressed. They just don't seem to inject much air into the water mixture when the pump is not at full blast. That is especially evident when dealing with the smaller skimmers where the pump is not running full speed.

I have yet to be impressed with the RLSS pump driven skimmers. The air to water mixture is way off because it just doesn't pull the air when it is not running at full speed. This is most evident, in their smaller skimmers where the pump is not running at full speed.

I have the r8i and love it! The DC 6000 pump is awesome.
