I put one in my DT but the other two are just chillin on the rock in the flow fanning away like crazy. :)

Guess if I feed crabs it'll just be hermits and fiddler's from PetCo.

    Glad he is doing well!

Here is a short video of my old bud. YouTube - My pet mantis Mr. Fister

In the video I am feeding him krill. He comes out to get it and comes completely out of the frame and he gets back into his rock before the next frame. He was at least 1 whole body length away from his hole and the camera was set to 30 frames per second, so in 1/30 of a second he traveled at least the length of his body. Probably closer to 2x his body. He didn't actually get the krill that time around though.

Thanks for showing that bro! Bucky's starting to recognize me a little bit and doesn't panic quite as fast as yesterday. I just wish he'd go explore at least a little bit. I heard him whack the pipe or rocks about an hour ago so he must be planning his primary den to be there.

I keep calling it a 'he' but really don't know. Do you know how to tell with wennerae?

You can sex a mantis by looking at its tail from below when it is backed up against the glass. If it has two small sticks sticking inwards, it is a male. If it has two spots close together, it is a female. Some types of mantises can be sexed by color.

not sure if this helps. and hope it doesnt feel too perverted looking at your mantis's privates. :)

LOL Not at all. Thanks for the information and if he ever decides to take a trip I'll have to inspect.

Thanks for the link to Jwins thread. I really stink at forum searches so don't bother trying much.

page 9. He's been hiding under the PVC behind the rock since I put him in so the only pic so far is of him when I was acclimating.
