Not if you aeriate the new water properly. Stepho told me these wennerae are pretty hardy and I believe him. Buckster came in a 1/4 bag of water 2 day Priority and look at him now. LOL

Price would depend on a few factors. If you are going to get it shipped to you, the minimum seems to be around $50. You can get a wennerae shipped to your door from TBS for $50. I notice you are in TN though, if you are anywhere near Jwin ask him what LFS he gets his wenneraes from. I believe he paid <$5 for them. Smithii's are a bit more expensive. The mantis itself tends to run around $50 plus shipping, so maybe up to $100 depending on where it ships from.

Sorry Mag, I missed this post some how. Stepho pretty much got it taken care of though. I hope you saved all the links I gave you because locating a mantis when/if you are ready really is a pita. Unless you go with the wennerae. BlueZoo will be your best bet for a smithii but it's 49.95 and another 30 for shipping. Stomatopod.com is probably your best chance at finding a rare but you have to email them to find out what they actually have and don't expect a response for a few days. Also they are about 20 bucks higher on everything over other places. If you can get one locally that would be best as Stepho mentioned the price will be very much lower.

He just keeps swimming swimmin swimmin. He's looking kind of hungry right now. Darts to the glass every time I walk by then returns to his ledge all rejected. Maybe I should feed my fish. Bucky looks hungry too. ;D

Yes, I did read somewhere it might be a good thing to feed them, though the jury is still out. ;)

be careful of over feeding though. Damsels always look hungry. My 3 stripe damsel is as fat as a sea cow but still begs for food 24/7
