One of my last choices personally. Not really that good a deal either. I could have a MaxCap for that money and its the undisputed king, or a CSP-DI with dual 90 GPD tested membranes, a dual inline TDS meter, SilicaBuster DI resin and still pocket $65. They really are not a water saver either unless you have extremely low TDS, otherwise they will wear out prematurely guaranteed. FG has not been in business long enough to long term test systems like others who have been doing RO for 25+ years and tried the water saving things long ago. Look at the history of the company you purchase from too.

Yes they are OK but nothing special and about average on price even with their group buys. They do not offer things like hand tested RO membranes with a written guarantee or custom blended reef specific DI resins which really do perform better saving you money from day one. You really need to compare apples and apples and often its hard to weed them all out.

The problem with most place's membranes are they are rated for 60 psi. I have a well with 50 psi (30 cut in and 50 cut off). Most membranes don't work so well with the lower psi. BRS RO/DI units use the 50 psi membranes.

Quoted from their website: "FILMTEC home drinking water elements are rated at 50 psi and will purify about 20% more water than competitive elements rated at 60 psi"

I too hate all the waste water. I have my RO/DI unit above my clothes washer and run my drain tube into the washer. When it gets close to full I put the red waste water tube in the drain and start a load of laundry!

They (Spectrapure) also have pumps for these situations; more expensive, but something to consider (if the difference in the resins is worth it).

Spectrapure uses Dow filmtec membranes. The difference is they put them through a special proprietary treatment process to further improve both the GPD and the rejection rate then they bench test them and on their Select series they provide a written performane guarantee. They start out as the same Dow Filmtec then get improved upon.

The pressure rating is an often misunderstood thing. Itdoes not matter if its Dow Filmtec, GE water, Applied Membranes or several others. A Dow 75 is rated at 75 GPD at 50 psi and 77 degrees F or 90 GPD at 60 psi and 100 GPD at 65 psi. A 100 GPD, GE Water or Applied is rated at 100 GPD at 65 psi and 77 degrees F, 90 GPD at 60 psi and 75 GPD at 50 psi.

They are all almost identical and will produce the same amount of water at the same pressure, all do 75 GPD at 50, 90 GPD at 60 and 100 GPD at 65, its just a different way of advertising or a gimmick if you will.

You don't have to have 65 or 60 psi, you can have 40 or 50 or 60 or even 90 with any of them and get almost identical performance with the exception of the tested Spectrapure membranes which do for some reason produce more and at a higher quality, their treatment and testing is worth the money.
