What is funny about this is when the water guy was installing the RO unit I have now, I talked to him about using it for the fish. His response was

" Oh no, you dont want to do that, this water doesnt have enough minerals for the fish, you would be bettwer off using your filtered well water for the fish"

I suspect he is correct, but we add minerals back in via salt and suppliments, or so I thought

    Who knows for sure.

Shipping will get it up to about $140. I bought this unit plus a full set of replacement filters (except the membrane) and with shipping it was $162.70 Total.

Dude. Don't just read what you want to "SEE". What I mean by that is - The people here on 3Reef have no underlying motivation for any of us to Buy a RO/DI unit or any particular brand of salt mix etc....

They answer because they genuinely want to help and want to see us NOT make the same mistakes they already made.

    A. Don't drink this as your main source of water but if you decide to please inform your wife so she can make her own decisions. If you have kids I urge you to do more research.
    B. Your salt mix contains most the minerals you fishes need and your filtered well water would probably kill everything in your tank within 3 days.

Unless that " water guy " is a "reefer", I would have to say that he doesnt know what hes talking about. As ALW mentioned, we give advice from our exp, and trail and errors. The only ppl who have to gain are the the vendors. Before buying anything, please do more research on drinking R/O water. Luna
