You should be using it weekly! Ya need water for topping off and water changes! I'd get a big tote to keep some water stored for an emergency!

You should use a RO/DI at least every 10-14 days to keep it fresh.
If not you should remove the membrane and DI cartridge and store them in ZipLoc bags with some RO/DI water to keep them moist and in the back of the refrigerator.

Its better to use it every week or two and make water in longer filter runs than to use it every day or two in short spurts so the membrane gets well flushed.

If you find you don't need much RO/DI you might invest in a john guest tee and ball valve which you would install between the RO membrane and DI cartridge so you could make RO only water for drinking and cooking. That way the membrane would stay fresh and you would save on bottled drinking water.

It doesn't really matter with them, they can stay in the housings in some water or be dried out either way. If you keep things in the housings it is important to store the system in a cool dark place like a closet though so it stays out of direct lighting and algae or bacteria do not grow.

Just wanted to bump the thread for a big thank you to everyone! I got the $40 RoDi and it turned out to be new, it needed a flow restrictor which i got and a TDS meter.. TDS shows 160 ppm for my tap..5-7 ppm for my RO which i had running for only a few minutes and the DI.. 0ppm :thumbs_up..Now i am running it for a little longer so i can store membrane and Di in the icebox
