so i mentiond a few weeks ago i would order a spectrapure 4 stage ro/di and do an unboxing and setup. well, unboxing was unboxing so ill just show how i am going to set it up.

all you have to do i connect the black hose to a water source(i chose to split my washers cold water) and mount the unit close by. the reject water(yellow tube) goes into my washers waste water exit. the pure ro/di (blue tube) will be collected in a rubermaid just below my washer and thats it! i will be installing the unit in that cupboard you see. first time posting pics....hope it works

Pics worked! the unit was 165$(but i got nailled for 64$ of import due to the fact that im canadian!) still the best deal out there!

nice, that is Exactly! how i did it, t-valve with levers, and then just stick the waste line into the washer waste.

make sure you cut the re stricter to spec, it makes the water run through the unit smoother and prolongs the life.

I did everything Jay suggested with mine, great setup. By the way, I have the same unit. I love it. It replaced my 1994 SpectraPure unit that I was still using! A lot of little improvements since then... enjoy!

    Nice job,

I have mine setup the exact same way. I couldn't find a female hose adapter to 1/4" jaco fitting though so I have a couple layers of reducers off my washer spigot to get down to the necessary 1/4" quick connect to the RODI. Do you have any kind of ATO automation setup from the fresh water container to your sump or to another ATO holding container?

this doesnt apply if you are hooking it up to your fish tanks ato or to your system in general.

but another thing i noticed that helps being that its in your laundry room is... if you are just turning the valve on to fill a container then shutting it back off. When you walk away from it running, place the container over the washer lid(that is if its a top loading washer).. that way if you forget to come back within the time it takes to fill the container it just dumps down into your washer :) then just turn on the spin cycle for a few secs and it goes out the washer drain.

saved my butt a couple times from flooding the floor. i tend to forget what i was doing a lot.. so i need a dummy proof system ;)

I put my buckets in the tub. I forgot it was running for a few hours. Saved my ass from a flood and the boss.

didnt know anyone had responded! this is the units new home, and i have a front loader so thats outta the question, Jay. i will just use a rubermaid tub and watchful eyes. also where is this restrictor that i have to cut down to spec? i didnt cut anything, just fixed the water input as it seems it was broken in transit(90 elbow snapped in half and couldnt find it anywhere).

    Thanks,

    Ben

oh and i got the Y splitter at RONA(home hardware type store) 8$ in the garden section and works flawlessly.

Nice setup! Looks like everyone here has a similar thinking haha. I used a Y hook up on my washer line, then ran the tap water line behind my wall behind the washer and mounted everything back there. Same idea, just hid everything behind a wall instead of in a cupboard.

Just a lesson I learned, not sure if you can apply it here, but I put my reservoir on wheels to make it easier to move the water around. Not sure how big the rubbermaid container is for you so that may not apply.

    Enjoy your pure water ;D
