your spectapure came with a little booklet that will tell you exactly how to do it.. if you release the blue tube from its press fit connection within the blue tube there is a restrictor, you have to run the system and measure the amount of purified water over a set time with the restrictor installed, then there is a table that will tell you the length to cut the restrictor from the results of your test.

Looks good, but I wouldn't keep your chemicals & RO system together. You are asking for problems.

The capillary tube flow retstrictor is inside the yellow waste line not the good or blue line.
You should have directions on how to release a JohnGuest type fittingin the instruction booklet, remove the yellow line and pull the small tube out (looks like a poiece of spaghetti) then trim it according to your test results on good and waste flows once you have flushed the unit.

DO NOT forget this very important step.

ok, did the test(FINALLY). was getting 230 ml/min good and 700 ml/min bad. i cut the capillary tube down to 2" and now get same good and 1100 ml/min bad. hurt my ratio (well, not its close to 1/4 which is correct) and not production rate....is this normal? im pretty sure i did it right, the manual is pretty clear...just looking for re-assurance aimed at AZ

hmm 230/700 sounds pretty close to where you wanted to be, no?
I'm at 225/650 and I'm leaving mine alone. I have 60tds coming in so I don't think its an issue for me.

You want a 4:1 waste ratio so 230 good and 920 waste would be ideal. You are a little over 4:1 but if you havesufficient pressure thats not a bad thing, the membrane will get flushed better and last longer.

225/600 is not providing sufficient flushing for the membrane and will shorten its lifespan significantly. Even in very low TDS water you need at leas 3:1 and 4:1 is preferred. You are only at about 2.5:1 and that is not good. When you reduce the waste you further concentrate the brine or waste surrounding the membrane which shortens its life.
