I am in need of getting a RO/DI unit and looking for your input once again.

    I have a 135gl and a 30gl tank.

My birthday is coming up this month and talked my wife into giving me money towards the ro/di unit. Tried talking my 11 and 10 year old into giving me some to but that laughed at me.. I told them it was my money at one time and they said not anymore..... HA HA..

Can't decide between the Typhoon III and Typhoon III Extreme..
Do you think the Extreme is worth the extra money??

The Typhoon III adds a DI bypass assembly, an RO only valve, a membrane fast flush valve and comes with a HM DIgital hand-held TDS Meter

The Typhoon III Extreme has all features above plus a built-in pressure guage, a built-in TDS alarm, a dual in-line TDS meter, a 150 GPD membrane and a float valve

Then I got to start saving up for the chillers..

I did look at the filterguys also...

Do you have one from them and do you know what kind of warranty they have on their units?

I know that Air Water&ICE has lifetime on parts for their units.

I have the typhoon 3 and couldn't be happier. There was a $25 off coupon floating around in one of their forums, I was able to use it to help off set some of the costs. I have a 150g and 40g sump and the 75 is more than enough. I almost considered the extreme but figured it wasn't worth it because I typhoon 3 has the tds meter with the package. hth

Do you know what PSI your water is coming in at. A lot of people buy RO/DI units the use high PSI water requirements and since they don't have a permeate pump ro di permeate pump - Google Search they waste tons of water.

Inwall.. That is one thing I was going to try to figure out. If I remember correctly (will need to go back and read this) I think it said you should have 60psi. Do you know an easy way of figuring this out. Is there a pressure gauge I can buy.. You can never have enough toys... Would mean a trip to Lowes which is always dangerous.. Me:cheesy: Wife:angry:

Cool... Thanks a lot... So yours came with the hand held TDS meter..
Does your unit have a pressure gauge on it???

If there is a way for me to measure pressure coming in atleast once I guess I should be good..ya? na?

No problem on the code, we all need to save a little money in this expensive hobby. If you order the typhoon 3 it comes with a tds meter free, no pressure guage though. My house is somewhat newer so I didn't really give much attention to the pressure, our pressure here seems kind of on the low side, but my waste water seems to be about what everyone is getting. Im getting between 3-4 gallons waste per 1 gallon made. I have been putting the waste in a bucket and just using some of it for the washing machine, trees etc.

It's well worth it. I have a coralife pure-flo II with tds meter (in / out) with pressure gauge (I get about 50psi). Not having to go to the store to get RO water is huge. It will pay for itself and I could not use the crappy tap around here. Tank responded well too.
