I have a well for watering our yard and plants but being in Florida I guess It would not be a bad idea to use the waste water on our plants.. +1

My house is also just a couple years old and the pressure is not bad so most likely I will be ok but if I can measure it somehow I would feel better.. Guess I need to research this.

Anyone else have any opinions if the pressure gauge is essential on the RO/DI unit?

A lot of the membranes want 65 ti 70 PSI. If you run them at less than that you are throwing tons of water down the drain. Since most houses are nowhere near that, and most people don't add permeate pumps because they are so pricey, people are used to this and think the amount of wastewater they have is normal. Not only that, in winter, most people's water pressure drops. Additionally, the colder the water, the less efficient the filtration is.

The Typhoon will operate at 50 PSI Vs. 65~70 so that may be good enough for your situation without a pump.

Yes, there are water pressure guages. Home Depot has this one Amazon.com: Rain Bird Water Pressure Gauge #P2A: Home Improvement I don't know what Lowe's carries.

on the unit i bought it came with pressure gauge and duel TDS meters. Its the Ocean Reef +1 5 stage Ro/Di for 200$ you cant beat it. filterguys.biz i would def get a psi gauge to determine weather you need a booster pump or not.

You're welcome :) And I haven't, and probably won't. Don't get me wrong, the folks here are nice. But I will never adjust here. I'm taking the extra time I have to finish my MCSE, study, and count the days left on my lease so I can work on getting back to Florida. LOL.

Seriously you should get an RO/DI though. It really makes a difference ;)

Very cool... I really appreciate your input here..

MCSE very cool... I am a computer engineer myself..Mostly Unix (IBM, HP, SUN) but also fix proliants, dells, ibm xseries etc... Should see if you can get some VMWARE training while you are at it... That is exploding and people are downsizing all the data centers.

Anyways I am definately getting an RO/DI it is just what brand.

I think with the opinions I have received so far I will get one with the dual TDS and PSI gauge.

As inwall says I need to check my PSI coming in so that will be my first step and then check out the requirements for the Typhoon VS the Filterguys setups..

Cool! Definitely working on expanding my knowledge of Virtualization. It's basically becoming a requirement to know. I use Hyper-V at work under Server 2008, as I have one main server with 2 VM's / parent OS. It's great.

I love the inline TDS meter - if you ever read anything but 0 TDS out you know you need to replace your DI. Good luck!

Not sure where things are different but most water pressure is way over what is required and they put reducers on inside the house which can be adjusted with a screw driver....no need for a pump but watch the rest of the houses outlet if you adjust it too high.

Find where your water comes into your house and above the spicket you should see a piece of plumbing and it will have what the psi rating is and what is recommended.
