OK I have my top off things(float)

and the other thing(shut off?), the white square thing.

    my question is,

I understand the float will tell the shut off to stop running, but what tells the waste water to stop? or will that stop too?

That's what the ASOV is for.

the four way valve attached to your ro/di system controls the waste water. when the system is engaged waste water goes to the drain. when the system in not engaged the system does not run water anywhere. heres what i use.
Reef-Relief :: Automated Aquatic Top Off Controller
and it will work with any ro/di system.

It will stop once the backpressure in the system gets high enough. And since the shut-off valve won't allow water to flow through the system, it will reach that pressure fairly quickly.

Same here LG LOL I know it runs whenever the water is turned on so stands to reason I'd think it would stay running even after the top off shut off the water flow to the good water but I didn't know it does it for the waste side too cool Thanks guys! karma to you 4!

I agree with Tim here. If you have an ASOV and a float valve installed in the sump, then there's really no need for that other auto top off device. A float valve positioned at the right height in your sump is a mechanical means of maintaining the water level in your system.
System water evaporates, float drops, valve opens, water can flow into the system.... system fills, raises float, mechanical valve closes....back pressure causes ASOV to shut off supply and waste water, done deal, right?

    bogie...
see, thats what I thought, until I seen this deal here .....Is this something that stops the waste water when system is not running...I dont think so... It seems to me that the RO/DI system expels as it uses..yes...It does not just keep running through the system while not being used?...that would not be right..would it?
