What should I be looking for with a RO/DI unit? Is a pressure gauge important? I also found a really cheap one on e bay can anyone tell me what is wrong with it.

doesnt look bad to me, you may want a TDS meter on though, that will tell you when you need new filters, instead of having to guess or waiting for problems.
the 4 gallon container may be kinda small for your needs

also a steel tank will rust.

It doesn't look like it comes with a DI stage to me, it just has the sediment filter, 2 carbon stages and the RO membrane. For the purest water you need a DI stage after the RO membrane.

Also agreeing that a dual TDS meter is mandatory in my mind. It's the best way to tell when you need to change your filters and to make sure they stay in good working order.

www.bulkreefsupply.com Has everything you need but there are many other places that carry quality products too, this just happens to be the one I'm most familiar with. :)
