I would not recommend storing the water outside. Temperature extremes will be an issue for the wate rquality and it will need to be tightly sealed so it does not pick up any dust or debris. I prefer a more protected place like a closet or as Vinny suggested a cabinet, stand or dresser to disguise it. I built a small nightstand to match my aquarium stand and canopy to house my chiller back when I used one of those before switching to LED lighting.

I have the Spectrapure unit and i like it a lot. I can make way more water than I need with it.

I have owned both the BRS 5-stage and now a Spectrapure and would highly recommend the latter. Also I believe it was on marinedepot, but I was surfing yesterday and they have some really slick looking RO/DI storage tanks, so maybe no need to hide em- just display beside the tank. The were a bit more money though.

Yeah as i mentioned earlier i leaning towards the Spectrapure given the research and feedback form you guys. On my local Craigslist there is a BRS 5-stage for $125.00 in mint condition which seemed like a steal but not so sure now.....lol. I didn't find anything on Marine Depot with my search for RO/DI storage tanks maybe you saw somewhere else but if you happen to run across it again feel free to let me know.....

    Thanks for the info

Both Marine depot and Premium Aquatics sell Spectrapure systems. They may not have the refurbs that are on sale though.
I would not buy a used system if at all possible, you usually inheret someone elses problems. Alwasy look a ta used system as if it will need replacement filters, DI cartridge and even a new membrane if it has not been in use for any length of time. Membranes and DI must stay wetted once in use or they go bad quickly. That used $125 system could easily turn into a $250+ system in a hurry based on what a handheld TDS meter would tell you about its condition.

RO and RO/DIwater need to be protected since they are very agressive, try to capture all the contaminants you have stripped out of them so store the water in a climate controlled area in a tightly capped or sealed container so it stays 0 TDS.

"We live in a condo setting so for the past two years we have been lugging several 5g water jugs weekly from our LFS to a third floor for our WC's yeah painful we look at it as dedication!"

ezz, I refer to this as the X-fit Reefer version!!!! I don't live in a condo, but with no RO/DI in place and running a 300gal tank I feel your pain with a 300gal water tote in the back of my truck & the 5gal buckets! I'm tagging along this thread. I literally was just about to pick up a used unit from my LFS, but with the above advice, I'm going with Spectrapure as well. Good read, thanks guys!
