    3REEF:)

I was looking into purchasing a RO/DI for setup at my house, to have my own supply of low/zero ppm water available. My friend showed me some models, and said go for an efficient one if I can. I decided on spectrapure uhe100gpd, it has the amazing 2:1 ratio that I could really benefit from, even if it's a big upfront investment

After searching i'm still confused about the options available for the water inlet/feed portion of the systems.

Is it necessary to hook up to my houses tap water line to run, or is there a setup where I could have a reservoir of water with a pump connecting to system inlet/feed? Or else, can gravity be used, such as the feed water reservoir is located directly above the system, using its' weight to create feed psi?

My tap water line has enough psi for the system to run at stated 2:1 efficiency, but my water temp is around 45F , which is way off the correct value.

I'm mixed up about the way it achieves its efficiency.
Does temperature change my product/waste ratio?
Or is it that gpd goes down with lower feed water temp, but I can still achieve the 2:1 ratio? This would be ideal, because I dont need the whole 100gpd

I myself own a UHE-100 system and love it. I have owned it just over two years and the DI life and reduced waste are amazing. I run it at slightly less than 1:1 waste ratio and my tap water TDS is around 535. The RO only TDS is averaging 99.43% removal when I checked last weekend and I just changed only the third DI cartridge in two years! Thats with a 100G reef system with a 30G sump and a 16G nano reef. Amazing product.

You need tap water pressures to supply the UHE. Gravity won't do, and you'd need a 300 gallon reservoir with a "delivery pump" (not cheap) to make the 100 gallons per day. Also, you wouldn't want the res to run dry if the UHE was still running.

Temperature will reduce the production, but an adjustment can be made to maintain the desired ratio.
