Do a search on it- lots of current info.

AZDesertRat- or something like that, is a guru on on the subject. He'll recommend Spectrapure I believe. He says the best quality filters/memebrane- best price.

Over 25 years in the industry and in a real brick and mortar building with real people in Tempe AZ the whole time.
If you go to one of those famous coffee houses with the green logo you have probably had Spectrapure treated water and didn't even know it!

I agree dont own myself but know someone that does and is very happy and his does a 1 to 1 ratio. 1 gallon of clean water is made and 1 gallon of waste water as for mine is more like 1 gallon of clean water and close to 5 gallons of waste or even more.

4 to 1 is the optimal ratio of rejection for the membrane, you can foul or damage the membrane and/or severly shorten it's lifespan at your current ratio. You need proper incoming water pressure and adjust your capilary tube length (or replacement of the cap tube as it sounds like you possibly cut it too short)

EDIT-sorry,i'm referring to your friends ratio

Spectrapure makes a system that changes that rule with their MaxCap UHE. It is unique in that is uses a microprocessor to monitor the system and then uses stored DI water to flush the membrane unlike any other system on the market so a waste ratio of even less than 1:1 is possible. No other vendor or manufacturer has a system like this. I own one myself and it has been an excellent investment.
