Instead of BRS call Spectrapure. Specially treated and tested membranes, lower micron near absolute rated sediment filters and carbon blocks, custom blended reef specific fresh DI resins and capillary tube flow restrictors are just a few of the reasons and at only $125.

I have a BRS RO/ DI and I couldnt be happier with it. they have them on sale quite often and the carbon blocks are a good price also.

Compare the filter, membrane and DI quality and there is no comparison. A 5 micron nominal rated sediment filter is about as effective as a screen door when you consider you can see 40 microns with the unaided human eye. Spectrapure uses 1 micron near absolute sediment filters standard in their lower priced systems and 0.5 or even 0.2 micron in their best systems. It makes a huge difference in the life and performance of the carbon block when you consider how much silt, particulates and colloidal materials pass through to clog the billions of tiny microscopic pores in the carbons surface where the chlorine and volatiles are adsorbed. 30 years of research and development really pays off.

Another plus is much longer DI life which equates to operational savings from day one. Spectrapure blends all their own DI resins so they last 3-5 or more times longer and give you true 0 TDS treated water, again, there really is a difference. Innovators versus imitators. Look at who holds patents, copyrights and trademarks in the industry versus someone relatively new with little experience in the industry and who assembles systems with off the shelf untested components. There really is a difference. I love BRS chemicals, have a closet full of them but stick to known, experienced and knowledgable vendors like Spectrapure, Buckeye Hydro and PurelyH2o for my RO needs. Thats based on 40 years in the water industry myself as a certfied water treatment plant operator, supervisor and manager.

If the TDS comes out at zero on the meter then does it matter the brand really? I'm asking because I like learning so please don't take it as offensive.

Yes it does. The main difference is for how long it stays 0, this can be a major difference among vendors. Having owned 6 different RO/DI's over the last 15 years I can tell you about big differences and which ones actually cost the least over a year or more's period. Forget vendors or brand names, look at what is inside the housings and buy the best you can for the money. Think of a RO or RO/DI as a fine tool that will last you a decade or more, I'm going on 7 years with my current Spectrapure system and its still at better than 99.4% RO only rejection rate or removal efficiency on the original RO membrane with only a handfull of sediment and carbon replacements in Phoenix water with a TDS of 550 to over 800 depending on the time of year and the source blends. The AWI Typhoon III it replaced went through two membranes in less than 24 months and ate DI for lunch. There really is a difference. When my DI life went from 150 gallons before it reached 2-3 TDS to over 1000 gallons before it even reaches 1 TDS there really is a cost savings not to mention better water quality.

Ahhhh I get it. I've been going through di resin every month with my current unit. I've got aqua fx sediment, carbon, and di resin but I'm still using the coralife ro membrane. Aqua fx is local in orlando so I'll try there membrane. If I keep going through di resin like this I'm getting all spectrapure replacement canisters and membrane. My tds coming in is at around 600
