    EDIT

just getting a general consensus on everyones RO/DI unit with a TDS reading.

what brand RO/DI unit do you have?
how many stages is the RO/DI unit?
what is the gpd (gallons per day) rating?
what is your TDS reading in/out?
    type of replacement filters?
where do you buy your replacement filters?

I think this will be challenging. Depending on the time of the year, my incoming TDS varies by 50 ppm. Average incoming is 350. My scumbucket friends in Seattle have about 10 TDS. On the other hand, it could be worse. My friends in Indianapolis have an incoming TDS of around 450.

I have a 2 stage 75GPD Seachem RO unit that I turned into a 4 stage RO/DI unit with add-on parts from Air Water Ice. I need some new filters at the moment, but when it's running, I typically change my filters when I hit 5 TDS.

heres the reason for the post

what brand RO/DI unit do you have?
    harvest water aa-1005

how many stages is the RO/DI unit?
    5

what is the gpd (gallons per day) rating?
    100

what is your TDS reading in/out?
    260/100

    type of replacement filters?
    2 pre-carbon, post-carbon, pre-sediment, ro membrane

where do you buy your replacement filters?
    water everywhere

now you would think that i would have 0 TDS after replacing the filters, i had 80 TDS prior and 100 after. what gives? either i need to buy a new system or better filters. any ideas?

It's winter so the incoming water is colder......hence higher TDS

I don't know your water system but in St. Louis, the pressure goes down substantially in the winter. You might need a permeate pump. permeate pump - Google Search

Get a John Guest Y connector. john guest y connector - Google Search

Also, get 2 John Guest faucet adapters. john guest faucet adapter - Google Search

Cut off the old faucet connecter. Connect the Y in such a way that you can add some warm water to the cold water. This alone should drop your TDS a lot. If it doesn't, you need to buy the pump.

Where do you store the unit? inside or out?
Did you change all the filters including the membrane?
What kind of TDS meter do you have? Is it calibrated?
When was the last time you changed the DI resins?
Have you checked the exit lines? They get clogged sometimes b/c they have flow restrictors like these......[IMG]

I would check the exit tube that is attached to the membrane housing. Sounds like the final clean water is being mixed with the exit dirty water. Luna
