Hello everyone, I am new to this site. I have found the info on this site to be extremely helpful for the past couple of months so I decided to become a part of the community.
I have a question pertaining to tap water. I do not have a RO/DI unit but i currently have a water softner and a sediment filtration unit. Will this accomplish similar water quality? I am not really familiar with RO/DI so I wasnt sure.

No not at all .. you would probably be better off getting the water before the filtration system you have in house now ? I'd simply get myself a water filter as water is 99.99.9 % of the difference between success or failure . And its the base element in the aquarium. for 130.00 or so its not the best place to save money there are plenty of other areas to save lots of money..

Couldn't agree more!!! :) Other good areas to save money would be to drop this hobby and pick up knitting or something hahah

Water softeners are for dry skin and plumbing fixtures. Sediment filters are for presentation.
