well its looking like all the filters in my ebay brand ro filter are coming up on changing time all at the same time. i do want to have tds meters inline ((4)1 inlet,1 premembrane,1post membrane/pre di,and 1 post di). i also wanted to get a pressure gauge. my question is should i just go for an entire new unit or just replace everything on this unit? its a 50gpd i believe. i could use a faster 1 but its not needed. the cost really isnt that far apart from a new 1 of a name brand mabe spectrapure or bulk reef, compared to the cost of the gadgest and new filters. what does every1 think?

If the two costs are close, to get everything you want (as in all new with tds meters VS. getting new filters) Then I would definitely replace the filter with a new, name brand RODI.

A new reef quality RO/DI complete with a dual inle TDS meter, pressure gauge, 90 GPD tested membrane, 0.5 micron absolute rated prefilter, 0.5 micron 20,000 gallon carbon block, capillary tube flow restrictor and custom blended reef specific DI resin in a full size 20 oz vertical refillable canister and cartridge is $145.
SpectraPure Customer Appreciation SALE! 20% - 50% off

A replacement prefilter, carbon block, DI resin, a inline TDS meter, a pressure gauge and a new membrane with a matched flow restrictor would run between $120 with 1 micron replacements and a batch tested membrane and $140 with 0.5 micron replacements and an individually hand tested and written guaranteed membrane with matched flow restrictor. An additional inline TDS meter for 4 points would be another $30 for each.

The cost is about the same whether its upgrading your existing unit with no warranty or buying new with a warranty and better components.

If you choose to upgrade your existing I would go with a good handheld TDS meter which is more accurate and much more useful since it can be used portable for testing things like your ATO storage, the LFS, your buddies water etc. The inlines are dedicated and cannot be used portable. Plus you could get a much better COM-100 handheld for what the two inlnes would cost and its 10x more sensitive and accurate.

The MaxCap is the undisputed Cadillac of the RO/DI industry. With its individually hand tested and guaranteed RO membrane and MaxCap DI and SilicaBuster resins it semms like it lasts forever.
Today I own the UHE version myself but used to have a dual membrane 180 GPD version and it was awesome.

I don't really see a substantial number of different features between a MaxCap and the BRS 6 stage (the one around the same price as the MC, after you take the discount for the MC). The main thing I would look at is the quality/longevity of the resins at that point.
