Call all your LFS(local fish stores) and ask them if they sell NSW. No buying R/O water, no buy salt mixes, no mixing, no testing and avoid of having water jugs all over the place. Thats what I did for decades. Food for thought.

The whole point of NSW is to avoid buying R/O water, salt mixes, testing it and carring all those containers all over the place. When you buy NSW, your just taking out some SW from your tank and replacing it with NSW. Of course, you will need to check your SG after you do the WC.

dude! that would be sweet! i wish i found this place before i got my water from the other lfs, and great thing about this lfs that i found online is they are close! lol so it would be a true lfs :D lol i would love to not have to test, although it is fun lol, but with my parents starting to like the whole fish keeping, i guess NSW would be easier for them to take care of when i leave home

The natural route can be plagued with assorted impurities. To answer your original question, no, ro/sea water (whatever they mean by that) would not be the same as ro/di because of the di aspect (de-ionized). If it were me I would use ro/di. Can you afford around $135.00? The "Filter guys" have a 5 stage ro/di unit for that price. I have it and the di refill is reasonable. The other filters last if you are not doing excessive water changes.

Not if the LFS does about it the right way. Ask your LFS how far out and how deep do they go to get their NSW. I have doing it this way for decades with no ill effects to my tank.

i won't be able to afford $135 for a ro/di system, and i also don't want to have to worry about mixing the water

ok, i noticed on the catalina saltwater website, that they sell their water to petco, but i don't think my local petco has it, but i think i'll contact the lfs that i found online sometime this week, or even go to the store and look around

The NSW is great. Like luna said no mixing. But it can be expensive. If you have a small tank then its not that big of a deal. The NSW at my petco comes out to $3.50 a gallon. So in my 55 this is way to much money.
