RODI will purify the water to a greater extent than RO. Nearly all of our customers who use the systems for reef tanks go with RODI, rather than RO.

Your local water purification company might but i had a real hard time finding a good water source.

Now i just have to walk a few feet to get as much RO/DI water as i want.

To anwer your questions RO/DI is better than just RO or just DI

You can try bulkreefsupply for a basic system i think its around $150 or less for a 5 stage RO/DI unit.

    Good luck.

When you say "RODI" in this hobby, it means "Reverse Osmosis, Deionization."

Those public water dispensers don't have deionized water - the general public has no use for it. Those dispenses might have distilled water.

As a vendor of RODI systems and supplies - I might be a little biased on this topic - but in general - yes - that is what most reefers do.

Some buy their RODI water from the LFS (which over the long run is much more expensive), some buy water from dispensers like you mentioned, and some even use tap water.

I don't think anyone would argue with the 0 TDS or very low TDS water produced by RODI or straight DI water being best - the arguements seem to be over "what can I get away with."
