    Hey all,

I just excitedly ordered a Tunze 3155 ATO and am trying to figure out a good resevoir container to pair it with. This will be my first ATO and I'm psyched to not have to manually top-off everyday. I'm trying to find something that will hold at least 20g and that won't look like an eyesore right next to my tank.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I have a 20 Gal tank that I built a cabinet around as to not be an eye sore. Make sure you have at least one extra failsafe if you're going to hold that much water in the ATO Res.

    Also, 20 gallons seems high...

I only keep about 5 gallons in reserve... just in case, worse case scenario, it limits how much you can accidentally top off...

Of course, my reservoir being filled up automatically helps... if you're manually filling it, I might see why you'd want a larger reservoir...

Thanks P, I was thinking of a lower one like that so it's not as obstructive as a taller one. Hmmm maybe there's someway I can put shelving over it and hide it, hmmmm.

Good points FOD and P on the don't have too much in worse case scenario. I will be filling the resevoir up manually, maybe 10g-15g might be the way to go then.

I had a dumb question on the Tunze 3155, how do I know if mine has the magnetic bracket? I know the addition of it was a big improvement over the old model.

Correct! Not having to dump a gallon/day into the tank manually is nice, but having to fill up the ATO Res every other day is like not having an ATO. Like I said, keep multiple failsafes.

    For Example:

I have a JBJ with 2 floats set to Mode B (High/Low Point Triggers), plugged into my RKL on a timer to only operate for a certain length of time...with 1 more Float Switch (RKL) triggering de-energizing of the ATO if it fills up to a certain level (i.e. the ATO float failure).

er, by looking at it? I guess maybe you didn't get it in yet :p:p

I think all the newer ones come w/the magnet clip... which is much nicer than the 'clamp' solution used previously...

and if not, you can order the magnet device separately (I bought mine b4 the magnet device came out)

He's covered w/that Tunze. It has built in backup... it's a very nice ATO. I love them. Pricey, but super nice for these reasons you list.
