Does anyone know where (online or at Home Depot or something) they sell the screw-top water containers? I'd like to be able to store RO so that I don't have to make it everytime I need to do a small water change. I guess I'd like about a 10 gallon container. Has anyone bought something like this at a home depot or on a website?

I've used the red plastic gasoline containers in the past without issue. Just reserve it for water use only, of course. :)

For storing RO/DI I use the clear 5G drinking water jugs with plastic caps like all the bottled water companies deliver in. You can also find nice blue or green water jugs at WalMart in the outdoors/camping aisle.

For my autotopoff reservoir I do too, but for long term storage the 5G jugs work good.

The owner at my LFS told me that I shouldn't use gasoline containers to store water in. He something the nature that those aren't made out of food grade plastic so they tend to leech potentially toxic chemicals back into to water. Anybody else ever heard of this?

From what I've read, tronb24; so long as the container is marked HDPE (high density polyethelyne), it's food grade, and ok for use for our purposes in reefkeeping.

My gas containers are so marked, and again, they've never seen gasoline.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'm going to go the gas-can route, but only because there's an auto-zone within walking distance :)
