Thanks dude. I am pretty stoked to get this under way. It wasn't out of petco 30 min before she had holes in her. Haha now, it sits. Dormant. Till the day comes... And believe me not knowing when that is, is really getting irritating!

    Yeah buddy!
Thanks norg. I hope to have a unique scape but we'll see how it ends up once rock buying time rolls around.

Bringing this thread into 2014 with some small updates and some photos of equipment. I should be getting an ATO unit here from a local reefer soon which was one of the last things I truly need. I took some shots of the overflow and the overflow cover DIY type deal I did...

    Here's the overflow itself [IMG]

Here's the overflow cover with some 10lb mono fishing line holding the mesh material they sent with this overflow kit.

And with it in place.. As you can see it blocks off a large portion of the overflow which is nice seeing how it doesn't have teeth. Also helps with removing the cover, without it, my fat fingers had trouble pinching it inside the box for removal.

    Das sump.

And the rest of the equipment that will be used.

Like I've stated before , but I'll say it again , this won't be up and running until I am living in a house in Orlando. I'll be going to UCF whenever I can afford it and get the financial support needed to go. Long story but im saving money ( partly why I chose NOT to start this because I would be stuck in this predicament even longer with the money I would put in it.) I'm gettin closer and closer and more stars need to align for it to happen but it should be soon!

I've been working full time saving every penny imaginable, with the occasional reef indulge here and there whenever the right deal comes along on equipment. I guess that's the cool part of doing things as slow as I am. I've gotten great deals on every piece of equipment I have, saving every dollar I can to put towards school/housing. I only really need a couple reactors, one of which will be the refugium pump, an RODI, rock and sand and I'll be ready for action.

Some could argue I could get away with what I have now minus rock and sand but I'm getting my RODI first and at least one reactor. I may in the future add one more mp10 if I decide to have sps all over the tank. For the mean time I plan on having only a couple diff acros, one monti, and one birds nest placed closest to the back glass that has the mp10 and overflow/return. Further away toward the front of the peninsula will be lps and zoas. That is the goal I have going into it, and as we all know that can change in an instant if my tank won't let me keep any of those animals. Let's not forget any life situations that may arise, god forbid, but they do happen. But I have confidence I can make things happen. It's been a long journey but once I'm there I know I'll be just fine, reefing and schooling alike.

    Thanks for looking!

You have some great equipment and gotten some great deals. Take your time and do what is best for you. Education is ALWAYS very important. You are going to have an amazing tank once you get it up and running. Good luck with your schooling and keep your head up... it will happen.
