Rock I may buy...please tell if OK!

    Hi...I am thinking of buying this rock from someone on craigslist and it has green algea with some bubbles on it.
    Is that bad?

    I will attach a pic.

    Please let me know if this is ok to buy or if I should stay away from it!

    looks like gha and bubble algae. i would prob pass unless your going to nuke the rock. although ive had gha and let me tell you its a pain in the a$$. the stuff is so hard to get rid of.

    I would only get it it were at or under $1 a pound. A little freshwater and a nice stiff bristle nylon brush can clean about anything off rock. The only problem is after its cleaned your starting with base rock.

    this is a reef rookie mistake. I made myself when getting into the hobby. I bought my first couple pieces with crap on them (thought it was kool), and paid the price down the road (aptasia & GHA & red bubble). AVOID live rock with algae on them! like the plague! get base rock or clean live rock only.

    Definately avoid any hair algae and definately do not get any rock with velonia aka bubble algae on it.
