The tanks are indeed acrylic and are my first foray away from glass tanks. The reasons I went this route:

    - I wanted the bull nose (rounded end) and to do so in glass was prohibitively expensive.

    - With tanks this size in an earthquake zone, acrylic gives me a little extra sense of security

    - All the rock will be secured in place with PVC, nylon rods, epoxy or a combination so I'm not worried about internal scratches after it gets set up.

    - The tanks themselves are up on pedastals and not likely to get scratched on the outside.

Am I worried about scratches? Absolutely, but I'm taking a lot of steps to minimize the risk.

    Update:

This weekend I fixed the leak in the sump and just finished testing it. Sump is good to go!

Unfortunately I'm traveling all week so it will be Friday before I fill with RO/DI and drop in some salt. Then I'll connect in the fuge and turn on the skimmer.
