    - I ordered the two 175g bullnose tanks from Tenecor last week. Unfortunately they've got an 8 week delivery time. Not all bad since I need to get all the construction done anyway. I plan on getting everything plumbed and the sump up and running with a side tank for the live rock before the tanks get here.

    - I decided I'm going with a Bubbleking 300 as my skimmer. I don't want to skimp on my skim!

    - I'm still trying to decide on lighting for the SPS tank. A couple of folks have almost got me convinced to go with Aqua Illuminations LEDs, but I'm not sure about it. I didn't have great luck with the Solaris so part of me wants to stick to halides and T5s.

    - Speaking of my Solaris - I am going to use it for the semi-reef tank, supplemented by two T5s.

Congrats on the order and the timing although it was much long than you thought.

There is a massive difference between first generation LED and the current one. If you are going to go LED I would get the Cree XP-G and XP-E lights. They run at 3 watts a piece and can penetrate to 48".

You mean in cost, right? :) I mean in this one I'm burying pipe outside, cutting through ceilings, adding a drain and water supply to a storage area...

As soon as I can get plans of the home, I'll post them with piping plans.

    More news!

I am in Orlando on business so in addition to checking things out at the house we are trying to sell there I got to stop by World Wide Corals and yes, I got hit hard with the bug.

So while I was there I picked up another 160lb of premium (BIG!) rock and they have a Bubble King 300 (used) they were looking to get rid of. So I also bought the skimmer! They are going to pack up the rock in individual boxes and send it to me on a pallet for pickup at Oakland Airport shortly after I close on my house in mid January when I will dump it into a big tub with the Bubble King running on it.

    So...

Tanks: 175g Tenecor Custom Acrylic Bullnose
    Lights: ??
    Skimmer: Bubble King 300

    More, more news...

So I'm at the house we're trying to sell in Florida looking through the fish stuff I haven't packed yet for things I'll need prior to getting our whole house shipped out. One of the things that I've got is the Solaris from my old 120. So I think I'm going to use that on the semi-reef tank, augmented by two T5s. This will save me some cash AND give me the LED benefits. I'm going to ship it out before I leave today, along with my RO/DI unit.

I'm still not sure what to do on the SPS side, but am leaning toward the Aqua Illuminations Sol Blue units.

No matter what I do, I'll need to create some sort of matching enclosure for both sides, but have some ideas.
