Another banner day for the build - aquascape day!

The first thing we did was cut the PVC plates - that's Tighe holding them.

We used the scrap to create standoffs.

Carrying 400lbs of rock up from under the house was a major pain.

This piece is an absolute showpiece. We flattened one end with a grinder blade. We then drilled a hole in the bottom to fit the PVC.

On the plate we put a 1/2" bulkhead and screwed in PVC.

We then placed the rock onto the PVC.

Starting to aquascape the fish side.

We dismantled and reassembled in the tank

I mounted circ pumps to the plate.

The finished product from the entryway. Thanks to Tighe for the panorama shots.

Yes, great rockscapes. I'm sure the lantern man will thrive in the tank.

The only thing I'm concerned about is that after I add sand, having a big anerobic pocket under the plate that creates a massive area filled with hydrogen sulfide. I'm considering taking a small powerhead, attaching a hose and blowing a small flow of water underneath.

    Anyone have thoughts on this?

Something like that or drilling holes in the plate to allow water to circulate. I think staying away from the sugar sized sand would be a big help also IME.

How about putting a bead of silicone around the base before you put it in? Keep the water out.

^+1 to the silicone. You could remove it too, if you ever need to move or had to get rid of the tanks...for any odd reason. ::)
