The light is actually blue, but what makes it through the PVC is green - so the PVC is absorbing everything except the green wavelengths.

I'm curious as to what kind of heat that thing is introducing to the system? Is the PVC warm to touch? Any noticable trends in temp?

Wow, that was 44 pages of awesomeness I just read. You did a superb job on your setup. Kind of puts my 40B build to shame. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I battled Ich twice and can't imagine what something worse than that would be like. Can we get some shots of the fuge running? I'm curious to see what all you have in there. I'm not sure if you mentioned this elsewhere as I didn't see it in this thread but what do you do for a living?

Honestly Ich doesn't bother me very much. A healthy fish can combat the parasite so if you keep your system up to par then it rarely causes issues. Velvet makes no distinction between a healthy and stressed fish. It attacks the gills first and usually the fish dies due to lack of oxygen. This is why velvet is so f#$king nasty.

I'll see if I can get a pic up soon. The main thing a pic will show is a huge feather caulerpa forest. It's just going nuts. I just found out that it's technically illegal to own in CA. Evidently you will get in more trouble for growing this than a certain terrestrial plant that is also commonly grown under plant lights...

Pods and snails are also going nuts. Unfortunately none of those pods are making back up to the tanks right now so I'm considering putting a sock in to capture them for transplant.

I'm in the financial arena in prepaid Visa/MC products and services.

I ended up putting a fan blowing across the fuge. That has completely alleviated my heat issues.

Here is a pic of my fuge with the lights on. The amazing thing is how much the algae growth has dropped since the UV sterilizer went in. You used to not be able to see through the glass, now it's almost clear.

That's amazing. I bought a UV over the winter and it is still in the closet. I have to get that hooked up.

I just placed a big order with Reef Cleaners and got a bunch more macro algae. My garden will grow :)
