Yes - I learned that you can't use a Cat 5 USB extender with the Neptune Apex.

Close - it was a nasty smell for sure.

Actually I learned a few interesting things and have some more updates:

    - The Apex signal is significantly higher power than USB. As such, in addition to not being able to use standard USB enhancing mechanisms, you can have significantly longer cable runs than is possible with USB. I contacted Apex and they said you can have up to 200'.

    - I ordered a 50' cable today and it will arrive next week.

    - The Apex is up and running on the skimmer, fuge lights, UV sterilizer and Kalk reactor stirring pump. As soon as I get the new cable I'll get the stuff in the tanks on the controller, including the AIs.

    - I got my quarantine tank (75g) up and running. I had a sick tank to treat my tangs for velvet and figured I'd keep it going.

    - I have a few black and white heniochus, bartletts anthias and a gold flake angel in there now going through a copper quarantine. Will add those to the main tank in two weeks.

    - I turned my UV dow to run 50% of the time - on for three hours, off for three. Once I connected it to my Apex I realized how much juice that thing draws - 8 amps!!! Dropping it to 50% will help on the power bill.

Pics of fishies and quarantine setup will go up this weekend.

My sixline cleans one of my lemon damsels frequently. It's been doing it for months. Incredible tanks by the way!

Sorry if I missed this earlier in your thread, but are you running AI Sol's on your SPS tank? If so, what do you think of 'em?

I am running the AI Sols. I really like them. The only negative I can say is that the controller is a little flaky. I had one go bad on me and the replacement has some issues with the knob. I will be running this through my Apex, but I'm running the separate controller now.

The only reason I ask (and not to hijack your thread--my apologies I am) it I am considering lighting options for an upcoming build. I was dead set on the AI SOL Blue. I'm not quite sure what to make of the new EcoTech Radion lighting system as well.

Sorry to read about your set backs.. This hobby can be the most frustrating or rewarding of hobbies. Anything new going on? What's the status of your system?
