Nice sump. It always makes me chuckle when peoples sumps are larger than my display. Can't wait to see further progress.

Just read through it all. This is going to be a really cool build. Bull-nose tanks are pretty sweet too. :)

    Latest update:

    - I met with the contractors about running piping out to the separate building under my garage - the area where I planned to have my remote sump. Note the past tense in "planned."

    - I just got the estimate in and it came through at $18-25k

    - I am now looking at an alternative solution of going down two floors to an area in the footprint of the house (down slope) and putting the sump there. The bummer is that I've got at leat 30' of head pressure to deal with to pump back to the main tanks.

    - I just got off the phone with Reeflo and they said that their Manta high pressure pump would be able to handle the job. The good news is that it runs on only 3.9 amps. Not much more than the 3 amps the Hammerhead takes to do the same job at lower head pressure.

    - Contractors are coming back tomorrow to see what it would take to run the pipes up through the walls. Hopefully less than $18k!!!

    wow, that really sucks.
have you gotten any quotes from contractors that dont hand carve their piping from mammoth ivory?
did they at least justify the reasons for the high quote, maybe something could be modified to reduce cost?

is there any chance of doing even partial DIY maybe?

i hope the new plan works out alot better for you, at least being in the same building should help.
    good luck!

Being in the construction trade, I understand that times are tough. Expect two different types of quotes...really low, to ensure they get the job, or really high, to cover the next month of doing nothing. 18K sounds unreasonable. Are we talking 1000+ feet, under concrete, through walls(i.e. hidden pipes) along with repairs(i.e. fixing wall damage, pouring new concrete, etc.)? If so, estimate could be close. If it is just burying pipe from one building to the next, I dig at $25/hour. ;D
