Here are a few coral pics. I'm having an issue with my camera and anything that has a blue/purple color to it. You can see some super saturation on the picture of the cap below. I'd love for that coloration in real life, but it is actually a purple that's like the central part, not the aqua. You can also see it on the tips of the acro.

Anyone have any ideas on what's causing this? It certainly has to do with the blue color temp of the lighting, but I've never had this kind of problem taking pics of certain colored corals.

Anyway, here are a few pics:

This is my Montipora Setosa. It's probably tripled in size from the original frag I got.

Here is one of my more recent acro frags. You can see the polyps are nice and fuzzy and the base is covering over.

Here is the pic of the cap - see how super-saturated parts of it look? The image is original right out of the camera (except for sizing).

    Oh very nice.

So how fast would say Setosa grows, mod? Slower than the average Monitpora?

    Where is it placed?

It definitely grows slower than your average monti. I've got mine about half way up the tank and toward the outside so it's not getting max light. It is, however, getting borderline too much. Normally it should be a vivid orange and this one is slightly faded. Still, it is growing well so I don't want to move it.

I actually like the more pale coloration. I have one small frag that is the pink, another small frag that is orange/red. Not sure how true the coloration is to yours with the camera issue but the color is really nice IMO.

Yes everyone says they are fairly slow growers, dang it the best ones always are. Guess I will move mine down, it's mid under a new MH bulb, probably too much light initially.

    Thanks

This pic is actually about right on with respect to color. The camera only seems to have issues with corals that are blue/purple in color - then it super-saturates those colors on higher lit areas and displays them as that odd aqua color.

I actually just added a piece of series a few weeks back, and it was slightly faded. But the last 2 weeks or so, it has become anything but faded. It is a brilliant bright orange all over. It is also about midway down in my tank.

So I've been thinking about the camera thing... the meter must not properly adjust for blue light and is thus over-exposing. I'm going to try stopping down the exposure and see what happens. Will try tonite.

Who can guess what the big bummer is about this pic of my red cap:
