ive seen some very nice tanks that the lr in the back is built fairly high then slopes down at an angle. ive heard lr should not touch the glass but in some threads on different inverts lr needs to touch the bottom glass so theres no rock slides. now the rocks that are fairly high would those be touching the back galss or not. im not to concern about cleaning the back glass anyways as long as there is some room so my snails can get back there. i have a 55g tank with 115lbs lr and looking to do some different with the rockscape. ive aready changed it once to get my fish to stop picking on each other and that worked. and i have lots of corals and want to have a slope rockscape with more sand showing. and comments would be great thank you.

Rocks touching the bottom glass is good. The reason for now touching in back is so you get good flow behind the rocks and you can easily retrieve anything that falls behind them. 115# of rock in a 55 will most likely leave little room for fish and coral. 55 to 80 lbs would be better for both.

just wanted to add, when rockscaping - keeping the rockwork far enough away from the side tank walls to enable easy glass or acrylic cleaning is another thing to bear in mind

I failed on my 5ft , as such the sides are now 1/2 covered in coraline
on my newer ste up I have ensured I left enough room for a hand holding a credit card to get down beside the rockwork
