well, i'm gonna re'scape my tank. i just got back from HD and Menard's and i couldn't find any acrylic or nylon rods. the closest thing i could find are those driveway reflectors on a 3 foot fiberglass rod. as near as i can tell they aren't painted, the color is entirely through. would these work? i think that GoToSleep used fiberglass.... They are also "break resistant" so if i go ahead and use these would i be able to simply cut them with a large wire cutter or bolt cutter, or would they just splinter and shatter?

Not sure about reef safeness, but they are hard to cut. It would shatter.

I'm using those on my new tank, I've read of other people using them as well so I believe they are safe. I used a dremel to cut mine, just takes a second with a plastic cutting wheel I tried wire cutters and it was next to impossible. Maybe if you had some 3ft ones or something with lots of leverage but my handheld wire cutter did not work well.
