I just ordered a BRS 5 stage system and was wanting to know if anyone has or had one of these units and there feedback on them.
Also wanted to know if I should replace the air filled pressure gauge with an oil filled on? I plan on teeing off after the RO and putting a couple valves in line so I can make drinking water from time to time before the DI. Thoughts?

See you haven't got a response yet.

I'll vouch for BRS RODI systems. Mine has been a champ for years now.

Not sure on the guage question.

How long do you get out of your filters and, how often do you use yours?I plan on only making about 75 gallons a month all at one time. Do you change all the filters at one time? Thanks for all the help

I recommend a spectra pure refurbished unit. Longevity is completely dependant on how dirty/hard your local water is and what pressure your water is going into the unit.

I always change the 3 filters when I get any TDS reading. I get about 6 months of use. That's with about 3 to 5 gallons a day of evaporation and weekly water changes. The membrane will last thousands of gallons.

it would be better for the membrane to make smaller amounts of water more frequently

I could be mistaken, but I was always under the impression that you want to make more water at a time. The more frequent smaller runs, plug up the filters and membrane quicker and reduce the lifespan.

I would think that the filters clog based on the amount of water flowed through them not how often it is flowed? I was also under the impression that the micron and carbon filters are for taking out particulate matter and chlormines not TDS's that is done in the ro membrane and di resin. I was planning on changing the micron and carbon filter once I saw a significant drop in psi before the ro filter, and changing the ro and di resin once I saw an increase in TDS's. Please let me know your thoughts and if my thoughts are wrong.

I would PM AZdesertrat on here he is the RO/DI guru as far as I know, and I was sure it was him that told me to run more water at a time to conserve membrane life. I think is has something to do with the amount of waste water to carry away the impurities.

Idle time for the membrane is the problem, I don't like to go more than a week without running my filter

I have a 90 gpd membrane, I am thinking of going with a lower output membrane for my next membrane. I have more than 100psi feed water and it actually produces about 168 gpd (7 gph) ( I don't need that much production)

waste water pulling impurities is tied to the waste ratio if you keep it at 4/1 you wont have any problems. If you have soft feed water you can get away with a 3/1 ratio

FYI a a membrane flush automatic or manual is a waste of money
