    Some suggestions:

-you want ro and di for 0 tds (total dissolved solids, you'll want a TDS meter to check when to change filters)
-less than 90gpd is a waste with the membranes we use, that's the most expensive part when changing filters and the difference between a dow filmtec 90gpd and 75gpd is close to nothing in terms of price.

-pressure gauge, you want a pressure gauge to see how your unit is working.

the best unit out is the Spectra Pure Max Cap, you save $$ on filters and it has the best waste water ratio out there. with that said we went with a smaller 90gpd Spectra unit, as we dont have high ro/di demands. also keep in mind shipping when ordering these units (marine depot has a free shipping deal going on right now ;) )

Stay away from ebay ro/di's... they are cheap up front, but by the time you change and upgrade filters you're already looking at the price of spectrapure, AIW, Filterguys, Buckeye field supply etc...

edit: also ro is fine for drinking, but DI may taste a little funny to some. it is however warned not to use ro as your only water source as we do need minerals (e.g. flouride)

Glassbox, not doubting you, but can you point me to some data or articles that provide some additional detail on what you've said?
