chances are you will get 0 tds when you were prob getting above 0 with just ro. and i believe the di takes out all metals and nutrients. I have a BRS 75 gpd RODI economy system. i love it so far.

    Exactly.

As far as seeing any immediate differences- maybe, maybe not; it depends. If you've been having issues with algae, then there's a strong chance your water has nitrates and/or phosphates which RO alone won't remove. Otherwise, the difference will be long-term survival of your tank's inhabitants, as there are also dissolved minerals and compounds in tap water that RO alone can't filter out.

It might help to realize that natural seawater has a delicate balance of dissolved minerals and compounds that hasn't changed much in the past few hundred thousand years or so, and all the world's sea creatures have evolved to tolerate it as it is. Not so coincidentally, artificial sea salt is developed to mimic NSW as closely as is humanly possible; however, if you're mixing that salt with water that contains an indiscriminant amount of it's own dissolved minerals and compounds, then you have breached that delicate balance and your tank's inhabitants are struggling to survive. It might take one year, or it might take five, but your corals and inverts will eventually die a very early death as those minerals and compounds build to toxic levels in their system. Depending on what those contaminants are, your fish may soon follow.
