    Hi,

I previously have owned a couple of Nano Cubes but I got out of the fish game for a few years. I randomly saw this fish tank online and I had to own one.

I don't have a lot of the before shots and a lot of this i'm kinda new at or trying to remember so forgive me.

I purchased the 92 Watt Black 14K Sky Light and the Stand.

I have the stock pump in place however I have two of their spin streams in the tank and I also have the default filter media that they sent in it.

I started out with some live rock/sand and I buy the water with the salt already in it from my local fish store. I decided to mix the live sand with some black moon sand. I let it go until all of the levels were close to zero then I added 1 clown fish and one little frag. I waited a couple of weeks and I added 2 more fish a yellow golby and the fish with the long nose that is perched there on the right in the back (forgot his name) I call him fish. lol

I also have 2 Turbo Snails a few crabs and 2 astria snails (sp).

I have never used a skimmer before but I bought the recommended one that marine depot suggested which is the Hydor Nano-Skim I put it in the middle area of the back and for the life of me I cannot figure out if its working correctly and if it is how well it is. I do get a lot of brown stuff in the cup. But I didn't get any instructions in the box with it so I kind of just guessed ha ha.

Tonight I cleaned the filters that it come with they weren't to dirty I do have the replacement packs.

I am thinking of taking out the media that they sent with the tank and use floss in the top, chemi-pure elite then purigen in the bottom on both sides.

I then bought the JBJ 4 LED refuge light and I was going to put some Chaetomorpha in the area between the filter media on the LEFT and where the pump/skimer is located so that I have some place for my pods to grow maybe or hang out. I was thinking of only having the JBJ LED run at night while the main lights are off but i'm unsure if this is the right way.

I also run the Aqua Controller system, thus far I have only figured out how to get the main LEDS to turn on/off and get the moonlight to turn off/on. I have the temperature probe in and my heater is configured with it to stay between 77 and 78 degrees and seems to do well. I have the PH probe on the way and a wireless adapter.

The Aqua Controller seems to be good, I am not quite sure yet how to get the moonlight and dawn/dusk lights to work according to the table inside of the Aqua Controller system or how to get them to dim or if it is even possible.

Because it's night time for the fish currently I cannot really get any good day pictures.

I only decided to post this because Jim's Nuvo Mini 38 thread I'm hoping that adicus can chime in on my setup and maybe help or provide pointers.

I have a bunch of corals on their way.

Cool setup. Love the layout and sand.

Do you have pics of the skimmate? So you think it is working presently but not sure?

The filter adds sound good to me but you may want to leave floss or the like from the current setup to seed the new as you have fish to worry about now.

Thanks, I think my sand is different and some people think I am crazy for using the black sand...

You suggest not to put in the floss and take out the yellow filters that the tank come with and just run with my other two new filters?

SOrry - what I meant was keep some of your original filter pad for the short term seeding of the new filters. In this case - keep some of your yellow pad and put near the new floss.
This may not be necessary with rock and sand, but it makes me feel better when fish are involved.

    You are having fun!

I'd think a fistful or the like would be a fine start. That is what Rocketman started with it - now look at it - it tends to grow. :)

    Welcome to 3reef.

Sharp looking tank, love the rimless look. Nice choice of substrate as well.
