okay, so I am on day 20 of my cycle...and I've noticed that lately my entire room smells like the friggin ocean...blah! :-X

    Is this normal?

I presume that it may be because I bought pre-cured LR...am I correct in assuming this???

    Will the odor go away??

yes for the most part. whats going on is your "pre-cured" live rock is curing. almost 99% of the time when you buy pre-cured is acuatally partly-cured.
if you have a very sensitve nose you may still detect the odor of salt but most people don't. tanks are particualarly stinky during cycling, a skimmer will help alot.

    thanks sostoudt.

I do have a sensitive nose...but even others have commented...and it just seemed odd...of course I can't spray anything into the air because I don't want any unwanted chemicles in my aquarium...so I am using scented candles...lol

Yeah... soon you'll crave that smell, start making skimate and jelly sandwiches, and having deep conversations with your fish....LOL

    Welcome to the addiction ;)

Hey man, it's part of the ambiance. The look, the smell, slipping on seaweed when you walk into the house....

Mine stunk too the first month or so. It mellows out. Then the skimmate starts to reek in the collection cup if you don't have any carbon on the outgoing air vent. That's worse.

I dont want to think what my zoo....I mean condo smells like! You get used to the smell so I dont smell it now...but I am sure it stinks...3 dogs, 1 cat, 5 fish tanks.

You know you are really in the hobby when your cupboards, pantry fridge and freezer is packed with "choice" brands of premium pet food, fish food, air freshners, candles and NO FOOD FOR YOU or ramon noodles if you are good!!
