So this sounds kinda stupid and I have had this for ever since I have had my tank up and running 8 months but I have small white roots growing on the live rock. Its not very big and usually around the corals. I know the corals dont grow roots but that is what it looks like. Sorry I dont have a pic i will take one later and post if it helps. I just wanted to know if someone else has had that. They don't seem to take over or anything just a couple here or there but they are all in my tank. They are white and grow down just like a root would. Any ideas?

They might be feather dusters or what's left of a feather duster?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Try this link and look under Terebellidae,

Some worms make up a structure (tube) made up of particles of sand. Either way it's a good link and resource for commonly seen hitch-hikers.

I have these in my tank as well. They are probably worm tubes as has been stated.;D

Feather duster/Worm tubes. I seen them at first in my tank and wondered what they were. When I started my mantis tank & transferred over a couple pieces of LR I seen the feather dusters more clearly. I guess cause nothing much in that tank to eat them.

    Possibly a type of sponge.
